New Opportunities for Greenfield Girls

The Greenfield Girls Basketball Organization will form over the winter and spring of 2023. A new organization, we are currently in the process of applying for non-profit status under IRS Section 501(c)3. The GGBO will be a volunteer-run organization and we are looking for dedicated helpers and Board members. All volunteers will need to file appropriate child clearances (Act 33/34).

GGBO aims to provide accessible sports opportunities in close proximity to the Greenfield neighborhood. While Greenfield is fortunate to have a thriving baseball scene, as well as ample clinic opportunities through the city rec center, there is room to grow our sports offerings targeted to girls.  Our values will center on the benefits of sports education and play towards the healthy physical and social development of girls. The GGBO will build competitive and fun programs while fostering player growth in four core areas:

• Skills (standard basketball development to build towards competitive abilities)

• Strength (endurance and strength training to support lifelong physical benefits)

• Character (expectations to follow a sportsmanship code of conduct and encouraging relationships with others)

• Confidence (develop intrinsic motivation, goal-setting/achieving, and self-pride)

The four core values will be developed with specific attention to girls' needs and development. We will assess the interest by age level as we develop, but it is likely our earliest programming will be for fourth and fifth graders.
